Suggested Bedding and Lubrication Material

(or appropriate substitute):
3M 4200
(For Fiberglass Installation)
Dolfi nite 2005N Bedding Compound
(For Teak Installation)
CorrosionX Lubricant and Penetrant

1) First inspect all mounting locations for obstructions and determine an appropriate location for all Catridges and Recievers. It is not uncommon for obstructions to vary from port to starboard and uniform mounting is aesthetically ideal. The receiver should be mounted as close as possible to the rod holder. Below the location for the receiver should be clear of obstruction to allow for the mounting of the cartridge. The opening of the Cartridge should be mounted a minimum of 4” below the bottom edge of the Receiver.

2) Measure and mark each location.

3) Place the mounting stud (stud provided) on the location selected to mount the cartridge and circle the stud base. Repeat this process for all cartridges to be mounted.

4) Using sandpaper, prepare the stud mounting surface by removing all waxes and roughing the surface. Repeat this process for all cartridges to be mounted.

5) Mix a dime size amount of each tube of the JB Kwikweld (product provided) to be used to adhere mounting stud. Mix only enough JB Weld to mount one stud at a time. This will allow the working time required and will allow you to hold each stud in place until the JB Weld sets up. Using a piece of cardboard and a wooden stick for mixing is ideal. The JB Kwikweld should be mixed 50/50, equal parts of both tubes and thoroughly blended.

6) Apply JB Kwikweld to stud base and place the stud on the area previously prepared. Push the stud fi rmly in the desired location and turn it 1⁄4 of a turn. A piece to tape can be used to hold the stud in place until the JB Kwikweld sets up.
7) Cover area selected to mount the Receiver with marine masking tape. Using the drill and 1 1⁄2” hole saw, cut hole in designated area to mount the Receiver.

8) Place the receiver in the 1 1⁄2” hole and mark the mounting holes to be drilled. Note: Align the mounting holes of the receiver in a direction which is aesthetically pleasing.

9) Remove the receiver and drill the three mounting holes with the 9/64” drill bit.

10) Apply a suffi cient amount of the selected bedding material around the Receiver hole that has been cut and drilled. Be sure to apply bedding material into the screw holes to prevent water damage to the fi berglass or teak mounting surfaces. Re-insert receiver.

11) Install three (3) #10 screws (screws provided) securing the receiver to the mounting surface. Clean off excess bedding material using an appropriate solvent. Repeat steps 5-11 for all receiver locations.

12) Prior to mounting the leash cartridges, lubricate the cartridge. Pull the leash out of the cartridge until it is fully extended. Align the lubrication hole on the leash housing and spray a liberal amount of desired lubricant/protectant into the spring enclosure. Work the leash in and out of the cartridge to evenly distribute the lubricant/protectant evenly. Lubrication of the internal spring should be accomplished every 3 months.

13) To install the leash Cartridge, place the plastic washer, cartridge, 1/4” fl at washer and the nylock nut (hardware provided) on the mounting stud and tighten with a 7/16” wrench. Caution: Do not over tighten the securing nut. Repeat steps 12 and 13 for all cartridges to be mounted.

14) Remove the carabiner from the leash. Pass the leash through the receiver and re-attach the carabiner to the leash.
